1. Introduce Yourself…
My name is Angela Hamilton and I own Betty Booth with my good friend Mae Kennedy.
2. Where did the idea to start up Betty Booth come from?
Mae and I both love all things retro and vintage. We loved the Photo Booth idea and tried to hire one for our own weddings, however, we were disappointed to learn how difficult it was to arrange a photobooth hire in the Highlands. We chatted about it a lot on our many dog walks and decided that we should get our own Photo Booth that we could take along to weddings and other events….we asked ourselves “If we love photo booths then surely others do too?”. We reacted on a gut feeling that it would work in Inverness and so far we have been correct. The reaction that Betty gets is fantastic.
3. You must have visited some pretty impressive venues with Betty, where has been your favourite?
We have had a really busy summer and we have been to lots of venues but there are a couple of places that stand out for different reasons. Loch Ness Country House Hotel is one of our favourite hotels because of the helpful staff and relaxed atmosphere. Assynt House is special because it is so beautiful and the owners are amazing. Dalcross Castle is an venue that took our breath away due to its sheer size and the grounds are absolutely amazing. To be honest there isn’t really anywhere that we haven’t enjoyed!
4. Mr Wilson is the official props tester for Betty, tell us more about Mr Wilson?
Mr Wilson is my 2 year old English Bulldog. At 6 stone he is a big lad and he attracts quite a lot of attention! Mae has a one year old working cocker called Tilly and they are the best of friends. Mae and I love dogs and animals – we can’t help it, we’re just crazy dog people! You may notice some cute doggie photos featuring on our social media pages…
5. What would you say has been your most successful marketing method for Betty Booth?
Facebook has been a fantastic marketing tool. After each event (with consent) we upload the images to our Facebook page. This allows people to tag themselves in the photos and it is a great way of sharing content and getting Betty on to people’s newsfeeds. Personally, we love Instagram…it boils down to the fact that we are photography lovers and enjoy browsing people’s images.
6. Any exciting Betty adventures in the pipeline?
Mae has very recently had a little girl called Lotte! Lotte is our first Betty Booth baby and this is without doubt the most exciting thing happening at the moment. She is gorgeous and Mae is already a fantastic mother. In terms of exciting business plans we have a second booth that is going to be based in Aberdeen from 2015 onwards. We have a couple of amazing Betty Booth attendants that will oversee events in this area so Mae and I will still be based in Inverness. We have had such an amazing response from people and we are really looking forward to being part of the events that are in the diary.
